Kier Building Maintenance based in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire are looking for a HR / Training Advisor for a 6 month fixed term contract who will assist the Senior HR Business Partner in the provision of a professional and pro-active HR service for managers / employees. The working hours will be 8.30 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
HR Responsibilities
Assist the Senior HR Business Partner to meet employee relations needs and facilitate organisational change / development in order to improve service delivery.
Provide HR advice and support to managers and staff including disciplinary, capability and grievance issues; absence and sickness management reports; management information and reports; attending management meetings when required
Support the completion and analysis of the annual employee engagement survey and the resulting action plans
Ensure the promotion of a modern and enlightened employee relations climate by developing effective relationships with managers, employees and Trade Unions
Deputise for the Senior HR Business Partner and Talent Manager as required
Administer HR database for reports / information on a daily basis
Undertake project work as and when required
Training Responsibilities
Provide specialist advice and dedicated support to meet the resource needs determined by the Senior HR Business Partner and Talent Manager
Liaise with Health & Safety to ensure the delivery of a best in service level of Health & Safety training
Develop effective relationships with third party training and learning providers, providers particularly Stoke on Trent College
Liaise with the Talent Manager to oversee the management of an annual apprentice intake liaising regularly with the business on future business strategy and plans
Liaise with the Talent Manager and CITB in delivering the annual training plan and claiming appropriate funding
Responsible for the administration of training records for all employees
Investigate and secure alternative sources of funding liaising with the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager where appropriate
Fulfil the role of workshop owner, where appropriate, for events within the annual Training and Development plan
Monitor and report on progress to management team on training as required
Achieve agreed training service outcomes, outputs and personal appraisal targets as agreed by the line manager

The Individual
Significant HR operational experience
Commercially focused
Motivated, with the ability to manage a demanding workload
Works as a member of the team, being prepared to get involved in detail as and when required
Computer literate
Up to date with current employment legislation
Past experience in dealing with Trade Unions
Strong analytical skills
Experience of supporting HR policy and procedures
Working towards Licentiate CIPD qualification
Experience of working within private and public sector cultures
Knowledge of TUPE transfer process
Supervisory and leadership skills
Ability to plan ahead, determine priorities, organise resources and work to tight deadlines
Ability to collect, analyse and present employee data in a clear and concise manner
Ability to prepare statistical information, draft out reports, analyse and interpret figures such as absence reporting, labour turnover, training days etc...
Understand and be flexible and sympathetic to different employees and their needs
