HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER £25-30k. HR generalist with experience of working with Trade Unions. Reporting to HR Business Partner, this role is responsible for providing a professional operational HR support service to VT Emergency Services Business Units
The key duties of the HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER will be:
* Provision of HR support, guidance and coaching to Business Unit Line Managers
* Management and co-ordination of all recruitment activities
* Provision of support to Line Managers in the coordination and conduct of Disciplinary and Grievance hearings
* Management and co-ordination of colleague attendance, including all aspects of policy implementation, attendance management in line with established policies
* Liaison with local Trade Union Reps on day to day colleague issues
* Assist in the development of HR policies
* Management and coordination of new starter induction and development of new starter processes
* Management and coordination of leaver processes
* Day to day coaching of the Leadership Group in order to develop management skills within the business
The HUMAN RESOURCES ADVISOR will need to have a proven generalist HR background and have:
* Up to date knowledge of UK Employment Law
* Experience of handling Disciplinary and Grievance hearings / processes from start to finish
* Experience of implementing HR policies
* Experience of working in a Unionised environment - This site is heavily Unionised and most activity is undertaken only after consultation with the Union. There is a good relationship with the Unions though.
* Understanding of TUPE
* The ability to influence others and build effective relationships with people at all levels of the business and communicate at all levels
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Good IT skills
There may be some travel to Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham, although not much.
The HUMAN RESOURCES ADVISOR will need to be pro active, enthusiastic, have the ability to stand alone and be articulate with excellent communication skills and a real drive to succeed. The workload is intensive and fast paced, so strong time management skills are essential, as are self management and confidence.
