The Background:

Working for a global organisation this is a standalone role responsible for the day-to-day management of taxation and relocation supplier relationships. Based in Middlesex the successful candidate will assume day-to-day responsibility for the tax and social security work of the International Assignments Team.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Management of expatriate tax, expatriate administration and relocation issues

Involvement in appraisal and strategic development

Ensuring all in and out bound assignments to and from the UK, administratively (to include policy and cost management) and from a tax, immigration and social security point of view

First point of contact for tax provider and management of relationship in respect of expatriate population, including checking billing

Management of relationship with Relocation Company

Preparation of assignment costings and agreement of international recharges

Preparation of secondment contracts

Meetings and negotiations with potential assignees, business line managers and HR colleagues

International social security applications – management of process

Adhoc advice on UK tax and social security issues to global HR and individuals

Implementation of changes to expatriate policy and processes

Responsibility for year-end tax filing to include:
Expatriate P11D forms
Short Term Business Visitors report
Form 42 Share Scheme reporting
Expatriate benefits into year-end payroll
Foreign Service Relief report
Overseas benefits provided to outbound assignees

Continuous assessment of reporting of expatriate compensation and benefits, to include review of payment and reporting of invoices made by Accounts Payable and outsourced Relocation Company

Collation of compensation data and preparation of eligibility list for UK tax return preparation

For UK tax return season: organizing checking and payment of liabilities; liaison between tax provider, relocation company and payroll; reminders and assistance to individuals with tax return organizers; maintaining contact with tax provider to ensure service levels met
Collation of compensation data for overseas offices’ year end tax reporting

Coordination of communications to expatriate employees regarding UK taxation of compensation plans

Guidance to payroll re UK taxation of stock option plan (and other compensation plans) and checking calculations

Assistance in accounting for expatriate costs and involvement in yearly Annual Compensation Review process (salary increases, bonus payments, communications, provisioning, hedging currency)

Liaison with Directors of Employee Benefit Trust, Relocation Provider and Tax Provider in respect of provision of housing to expatriates and UK tax implications

The Person:

The successful candidate will have previous experience of: international assignments, global mobility or expatriate management issues. It is imperative that applicants have a detailed knowledge of both UK and expatriate taxation issues, ideally ATT, CTA tax qualified. This opportunity would provide an excellent opportunity for applicants with a tax consultancy background to move into an in-house function.
