The
number of people in employment has reached record levels again, the latest
official figures show.
The
Office for National Statistics published new figures that show there are now
28.17 million people in work – the highest number since records began.
The
workforce has grown by 37,000 this quarter, and is now 228,000 higher than 12
months ago.
The
ILO unemployment measure fell from 5.1 per cent to 5 per cent this quarter,
while the claimant count of the unemployed remained at 3 per cent – the lowest
figure since 1975.
