Future workers will swap jobs 19 times

UK
workers of the future will change jobs 19 times during their lives, according
to new research.

The
report, by vocational awards body City and Guilds, says the internet will play
a key role in people switching careers as online education will mean people can
easily retrain.

Longer
life expectancy and pension under-funding will also have an impact. Many
workers will look at ways to top up their income during retirement, says the
report.

It
forecasts that five million people – 20 per cent of the working population –
will be planning a career change in 2025, double the current figure of 2.5
million per year.
