The
gender pay gap has decreased slightly, according to the latest official
figures.
The
Office for National Statistics reports that female staff were paid 81.5 per
cent of their male counterparts’ earnings last year. This compares to a figure
of 81.1 per cent during the previous year.
However,
female earnings are growing at 1 per cent more than men’s, with women’s wages
increasing at a rate of 6.6 per cent.
The
statistics show that full-time male staff earn an average of £490 per week
compared to £366 for women.
