The
Employers’ Organisation for Local Government has set up a website to enable
councils to view top graduates looking for a career in the sector.
The
organisation received over 2,400 application for 50 places on a the National
Graduate Development Programme.Â
Conscious
not to lose talent staff to other sectors The website has been set up with the
aim of preventing councils from losing talented staff to other sectors.
David
Horsler, senior principal personnel officer at the City of Salford Council,
said: "Local government is very keen to attract capable talent and we
recognise that the traditional professional routes into management are not
sufficient.
"The
website allows us to access capable people from a diversity of backgrounds. It
offers access to potential employees who have already been assessed against
nationally agreed management criteria and found to have considerable
strengths."
