TalentTracker helps Screwfix recruit for UK stores

by Personnel Today 20 Feb 2008
by Personnel Today 20 Feb 2008

Recognised as being “where the trade buys” and promising a fast, reliable service, Screwfix is the UK’s largest direct and online supplier of high quality, low cost building, maintenance and refurbishment items to the trade as well as serious home improvers.

With a comprehensive catalogue and 24-hour access to thousands of products at trade prices, the company also offers an immediate select and collect service on thousands of stock items from its’ growing UK network of Trade Counters (90 as at end January 2008).

Further openings are planned throughout the UK and, to ensure that it recruits experienced and passionate staff with the highest level of customer service for each of its’ new branches, Screwfix required a tailored online recruitment system for high volume applications.

Screwfix chose the high volume TalentTracker Enterprise solution, after seeing the success of the system in operation with another client. Since implementation in Feb 2007, Screwfix has experienced a wide range of benefits to the business including:

50% reduction in per candidate application costs
A reduction in time to recruit of at least 1 week
An increase in the number of not only raw applications but suitable candidates
A reduction of 20% in recruitment administration time
An improved level of service to candidates

TalentTracker Enterprise is our ultimate recruitment system designed specifically for high volume which can process thousands of applications every week.

With a tailored approach we build this solution to meet the exact requirements of individual client needs.

Also ideal in a call centre environment, the system can control every aspect of your recruitment process from telephone interview to assessment centre, from face to face interview to psychometric testing.

As part of this solution a customised Jobs Board was provided to let candidates search and apply directly online.

A detailed screening and selection process was developed to meet Screwfix’s specific needs and ensure a high volume of candidates could be filtered whilst accurately assessing key skills.

The secure back office is simple and intuitive to use yet rich in functionality to control every aspect of the recruitment process, in real time.

Emma Bateman, Talent Manager of Screwfix explained:

“Going through our recent period of expansion, I don’t think we could have recruited successfully without TalentTracker® – it’s been absolutely critical to our success. The system is simple and easy to use both for our candidates and my recruiters, and helps us to manage high volumes of applications efficiently. Taking our recruitment online has been, and continues to be, a key enabler of improving our branding and improving the suitability and screening of candidates, and a key driver in the reduction of time to recruit and ongoing costs.”

Logical Innovations Managing Director, David Buchanan commented:

“Screwfix are going through an exciting and successful period of expansion and we are pleased that they have chosen TalentTracker® to help them recruit the right candidates quickly and effectively. As a niche recruitment software supplier our strength lies in our ability to form real partnerships with our clients and take the time to design a flexible solution that really meets their individual needs for recruitment.”
