Untapped pool of talent has skills to bridge gap

It is stated that there is a skills shortage in the UK at the moment, but the economy is sitting on a large untapped sector of skills that will bridge the gap.

New residents with high qualifications and experience in diverse fields are being pushed aside as their qualifications are not recognised or accepted in the UK.

I have a five-year apprenticeship with two additional years in advanced training in the heavy mining and manufacturing industry, with qualifications in the following skills under my belt: fitter and turner, plumbing, hydraulics and pneumatics, diesel mechanics, production fitter, and research and development engineer.

After applying for 100 trade positions, I am now employed as a salesman.
