West Midlands Police will today become one of only eight forces in the UK to win Investors in People (IiP) status.
IiP is a national standard which highlights good practice in respect of staff training and development and is aimed at helping improve the overall performance of an organisation.
Assessors spent seven weeks with the force and visited almost every operational command unit and department, speaking to staff of all levels and ranks.
David Williams, director of personnel at the West Midlands force, said: “We recognise the successful future of our organisation is dependent on the training and development of our staff, to ensure everyone is in a position to perform their role effectively.
“The challenge now is to build on the good work that has made us successful and gained us national recognition,” he said.
