More than seven out of 10 employers believe they have a responsibility to help look after the oral and dental health of their workers.
A survey of 225 HR managers and directors by health provider Simplyhealth found that four out of 10 felt that offering dental benefits improved employee commitment, engagement and productivity.
Yet only half of those polled said they actually offered dental benefits among their benefits packages.
More than eight out of 10 said they were concerned employees could not afford to look after their oral health. Nearly two-thirds also believed introducing dental benefits would improve staff morale, and more than half felt it would reduce sickness absence and enhance recruitment and retention.
