A healthy body means a healthy mind (You are what you eat, Personnel Today, 3 May). It shouldn’t take a scientist, Jamie Oliver or Dr Gillian to tell us that, but the fact is that most workforces are a coffee-swilling, sandwich-stuffing bunch.
While HR can help to enforce a healthy diet, where we really need food for thought is on training courses and conferences. People are there to learn, yet the staple diet of stodgy canteen fodder and endless biscuits would leave even the most dedicated student ready for an afternoon nap rather than another seminar.
Jamie Oliver has already proved that children learn and behave better when the junk food is eliminated. For once, can’t the adults learn from the kids?
