The Government has set out its timetable for implementing some of its plans for reforming public health, as outlined in last autumn’s White Paper Choosing Health.
In its document, Delivering Choosing Health, the Department of Health has said it plans to establish ‘NHS trainers’ by 2007 and, in some areas, by next year.
These will help people who want to improve their health, provide advice on smoking cessation, safe sex, stress and how to access services.
Internet and digital support through a network called Health Direct will be in place from mid-2007, and a new Investors in Health standard for workplaces should be up and running from 2007.
