I was interested to read in your Weekly Dilemma column (Personnel Today, 12 September) about the most appropriate way to train Eastern European workers to deal with health and safety matters.
What is clear is that, unless organisations adapt their thinking to accommodate this new group of workers, they could be storing up problems in terms of claims being made against them at some point in the future. It is only by employers being increasingly flexible and sensitive to the employment marketplace – which is only going to get more diverse – that they will be able to avoid such issues.
