Well-rounded cops facing the big chop

You might think Buzau in Romania sounds like a place where too much drinking is a problem, and you’d probably be right.

Police there have been told to slim down, or risk losing their jobs. Their new boss, Inspector Viorel Stefu, said he had to take this measure because his men “are usually outrun by more robust thieves”.

Under the new regime, the police will not be able to get the necessary qualifications to continue in their roles unless they can demonstrate that they can keep up with malfeasants.
