A ‘staggering’ 80% of UK workers admit they have felt drunk at work following a liquid lunch, research reveals.
The poll of 1,500 employees, by employment law advisory firm Peninsula, shows that nine out of 10 had an alcoholic drink at lunchtime at least once a week.
A third of those questioned said they had a drink three times a week, while one in 20 enjoyed beer or wine every lunchtime.
Most of those surveyed said they had more than two drinks with their lunch, and four out of five said there had been times when they felt drunk in the office.

Peter Done, managing director of Peninsula, said “This can obviously cause problems and lead to situations and confrontations in the workplace, thus having a possibly damaging effect on the company’s productivity.”
