The TUC wants a smoking ban extended to all wokplaces across the UK.
TUC general secretary Brendan Barber welcomed the decision by the Scottish Executive to ban smoking in all enclosed public places under devolved public health legislation.
“The Scottish Executive has recognised the detrimental impact that passive smoking has on people’s health, especially bar staff and other hospitality workers,” said Barber.

“It is time for the Government to properly protect all UK workers from the dangers of second-hand smoke. A nationwide ban on smoking in all workplaces, using health and safety law, would save hundreds of lives every year,” he said.
