A new workplace health and safety thinktank has recently been announced by the British Safety Council (BSC).
The body will have a remit to influence and inform on health and safety legislation, best practice and debate, said the BSC.
The specialist unit will also be expected to help shape policy, undertake research, campaign and influence important workplace health and safety issues and future legislation, it added.
It will be headed by Neal Stone, the BSC’s new director of policy and research, and was poised to begin work early this year.

Julie Nerney, BSC chief executive, said: “The thinktank will enable the British Safety Council to further influence and inform health and safety legislation, policy and debate, and engage with Government and other key stakeholders on health and safety issues that really matter to businesses and workers alike.
“It will also allow us to spread knowledge about health and safety solutions, publish easy-to-follow practical guidance and work to help all employers achieve best practice in this area,” she added.
