ING worker to sue bank for more than £100,000 in race discrimination row

A City worker who claims she and another Asian worker were nicknamed The Kumars At No 42 by colleagues is suing Dutch bank ING for more than £100,000.

Meena Sagoo, 42, alleges her career hit a glass ceiling because of her race – and that it was 'double-glazed' by her boss Richard Mutter.

Sagoo says Mutter told her and a male Sri Lankan co-worker that they were known as The Kumars At No 42 from the TV comedy show.

The show features actress Meera Syal and her real-life husband Sanjeev Bhaskar hosting a chat-show in a send-up of British Asian culture.

Sagoo is taking ING to an employment tribunal in February, alleging race discrimination and victimisation. The bank and Mutter deny the claims.
