COA Solutions, a provider of business and information management systems, has acquired UK HR software firm ASR Computers for an undisclosed fee.

The deal, COA’s ninth in the past five years and in conjunction with its previous acquisitions of HR and payroll specialists OpenPeople, Goldenhill and Strata, strengthens COA Solutions’ position in the human capital management (HCM) sector, which is worth an estimated £240m.

ASR currently has 400 private and public sector customers and its services cover personnel, training, recruitment, succession planning, self-service and workflow.

The acquisition will add muscle to COA Solutions’ Smart Business Suite, which comprises finance, HR, payroll, procurement, business intelligence and document management solutions.

ASR will continue to operate as a separate entity at its offices in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, supporting existing customers and partners.

Mark Thompson, managing director at COA Solutions, said the firm is determined to sustain its rapid growth in the UK HCM market, while continuing it presence in the UK business software market.

“This acquisition extends our product offering and provides both COA Solutions and ASR customers with even greater functionality to fulfil their business needs,” he said.
