BITC launches musculoskeletal disorder toolkit

by Personnel Today 23 Dec 2009

A toolkit to help employers better manage musculoskeletal disorders has been launched by Business in the Community (BITC).

The ‘Working Joints and Muscles’ toolkit has been backed by big-name employers such as Centrica, Parcelforce and Birds Eye, and has been sponsored by the Health and Safety Executive.

It includes information on the business case for promoting musculoskeletal health among employees, examples of best practice and company case studies, and a 12-step model for planning, executing, reviewing and updating musculoskeletal health initiatives.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

It also offers advice on ways in which employers can promote better musculoskeletal health in the workplace, how to run health promotion programmes that increase awareness of health, and how to manage the rehabilitation and return to work of employees with musculoskeletal health disorders.

The idea is that the musculoskeletal toolkit should be used in conjunction with BITC’s Towers Perrin Healthy Workplace Action Pack, the organisation added.
