More than 800 jobs could be axed at a Hewlett-Packard plant in Scotland, it is feared.
The technology firm yesterday confirmed plans to relocate its EMEA Enterprise, Storage and Servers production from Germany and Scotland to a partner company in the Czech Republic during 2010.
A spokeswoman for the firm would not reveal how many staff were employed by the electronics firm in Erskine, near Glasgow. But media reports suggested 843 manufacturing jobs could go under the transfer.
The move is part of HP’s proposed restructuring plan for its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region to its European Works Council (EWC).

Under the proposal, the company’s planned reduction in EMEA will affect up to 5,700 positions over the next two years out of a workforce of approximately 80,000.
A statement from the company said: “The breakdown of affected positions in businesses and functions on country level will be evaluated during the coming weeks.”
