Stress
levels among Cambridge University staff have hit new peaks, with waiting times
for stress counselling reaching six months.
The
university said there had been a 60 per cent rise in demand for the service in
the past four years and a second counsellor would be taken on to ease the
backlog.
Jill
Collins, one of the counsellors, told The Times newspaper that an environment
like a top university, meant people were working with great intensity.

“Expectations
are very high. This pressure can have both positive and negative effects,” she
said.
