EXCLUSIVE! Legal rights delay for Union Learning Reps

Union
Learning Representatives (ULRs) will have to wait at least another month before
gaining the same statutory and legal rights as other union officials in the
workplace.

The
reps were due to be given more rights, such as paid time off,  on 6 April as part of the Employment Act but
the proposals have now been delayed.

The
TUC told PersonnelToday.com that a technical difficulty in drafting the
regulations had caused the problem, which could see the rights delayed until
May.

The
DTI is currently correcting the draft which will now go before the House of
Commons on 2 April and the House of Lords on 9 April.
