UK company car fleets could fall foul of EU directive

More
than half of UK companies with fleet cars could be liable for fines of up to
£5,000 following the introduction of European laws this week.

Fleet
managers and insurers face the fines if they fail to comply with the European
Union’s fourth Motor Insurance Directive, which requires that all vehicles are
identifiable through a central resource centre.

Figures
from the Motor Insurers’ Information Centre (MIIC) show that only one in four
fleet vehicles have been registered, although the actual number could be much
higher.
