Firefighters
are set to strike after union bosses rejected the latest pay offer.
Leaders
of the Fire Brigades Union quickly abandoned talks today (Tuesday) after local
authority employers failed to offer the pay increase sought.
The
strike will see more than 50,000 fire department staff walk out for 48 hours
from 6pm tomorrow.

Street’s civil contingencies committee – codenamed Cobra – will meet to decide
on a response to the strike.
