Civil servant claims race discrimination

A Home Office race advisor was forced out of her job because she was black, a tribunal was told yesterday.

Amanda John claims she was bullied by her manager while working for the social policy unit of the Immigration and Nationality Department.

She alleges racial and sexual discrimination after she was urged to “consider her position” by a senior manager,

John also said that she was told by a colleague that a manager found it difficult to work with a black woman.

The hearing in Croydon, Surrey, continues.
