Firefighters’ employers to clarify pay deal

Firefighters’
employers are to write to all firefighters setting out guarantees over pay, the
Financial Times reports.

The
paper said the letter hopes to win over rank-and-file members of the Fire
Brigades’ Union.

Employers
are expected to promise that fire service personnel above the rank of
firefighter would receive at least the same £3,469 cash increase as
firefighters have been guaranteed.

In
exchange, it is expected they will to try and persuade firefighters to give up
their £1,000 long-service increment, awarded after 15 years of service.
