HSBC will attempt to woo graduate bankers by creating 60 ‘super banks’ with designer interiors. HSBC chief executive Michael Geoghegan accidentally revealed the bank’s plans at a presentation to Skinners’ Company’s School for Girls in London. “Banking in the UK is very boring. We are working on a strategy at the moment where we are looking to open about 60 very big branches where you could go and get a whole range of financial services,” Geoghegan told the school. The new interiors, aimed at attracting students and young professionals, could include escalators and interactive TV. Geoghegan said he was inspired to revamp the bank after a visit to the new Apple computer store in London.
