One hundred boxing apprenticeships will be created by the sector skills council for sport and an amateur boxing association.
The scheme, funded by the £1bn Future Jobs Fund, will help provide training and qualifications to long-term unemployed people to help them secure permanent jobs in health, fitness and community support.
The Amateur Boxing Association of England (ABAE) and National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure (NSA) will award participants that complete the course with a coaching qualification, which meets the sport’s required operating standards for delivering community boxing.
The apprenticeships will run for a minimum of six months for at least 25 hours per week.

The ABAE has begun recruiting 50 apprentices in Liverpool, Manchester, Bolton, Bradford, Doncaster, Sheffield, London, Bristol and the south-west counties of England.
Applicants must have been unemployed for at least six months. Further details on how to apply can be found on the ABAE website.
