Annual occupational medicine conference
Dr Bill Gunnyeon, chief medical adviser at the Department for Work and Pensions (above), will be one of the keynote speakers at a Society of Occupational Medicine conference on 9 October in Nottingham. The Trent Occupational Medicine Annual Symposium, Fit Notes or Sick Notes – Evolving Occupational Health Practice, is open to both OH nurses and doctors. Business advice booklet
The Association of Occupational Health Nurse Practitioners has published a booklet on running an independent occupational health business. It is available as a free download to members, or to non-members for £25.
RCGP care proposal
Rather than creating new ‘polyclinics’, the government should look to move GPs into ‘primary care federations’ that could employ specialists such as dermatologists or diabetes nurses, the Royal College of General Practitioners has suggested. The proposal, though not specifically suggesting occupational health practitioners might be part of this mix, backed in principle the government’s idea to develop as many services as possible within the community.

Wellbeing diary date
