Rolls-Royce to axe up to 2,300 jobs to reduce costs

Engineering firm Rolls-Royce will cull up to 2,300 posts in a bid to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

It is not known how many UK jobs will go, but the cuts will affect managerial, professional and clerical staff working in the business.

The firm employs about 39,500 people in 50 countries, with 23,300 employees in the UK.

The group said its proposed changes will extend to the UK, US, Germany, and the Nordics, but that it would continue to recruit graduates, apprentices, and those required directly to deliver growth.

Mike Terrett, chief operating officer at Rolls-Royce, said: “We are determined to create a leaner and more agile support structure, better suited to the global markets in which we operate. The investments we have already made in new management systems will help us deliver this simplified organisation.
