An “army of pensioners” are to protest over White Paper reforms delaying basic state pensions and links to average earnings.
The National Pensioners Convention (NPC) is calling for the government’s White Paper to reinstate the link between earnings and pensions immediately.
The convention is also requesting a £30-a-week increase in the state pension to £114.50.
The government said earlier this year that it would take at least six years to restore the link between pensions and average earnings.
But the NPC estimates that an average of 500,000 pensioners will die every year before the link to earnings is reinstated.
Joe Harris, general secretary of the NPC, said: “The government has been breathtakingly complacent on the issue, by refusing to substantially increase the basic state pension and delaying the restoration of the link between pensions and earnings until at least 2012.”
The NPC said it would lobby parliament and present a petition to Downing Street.

However, a spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions said tackling pensioner poverty had been its “first priority”.
