The RMT union has called on London mayor Ken Livingstone to intervene to avert a second strike on London Underground scheduled to begin at 18:30 on Sunday, after informal talks at Acas broke down yesterday. Tube drivers have already staged a 24-hour strike on New Years Eve in a dispute about a new roster system. The RMT claims the new rosters will leave many stations dangerously understaffed and have called for them to be suspended for a couple of months while proper safety validations are carried out.
