Children the main factor holding back women in the workplace

Pregnancy and children are the biggest obstacles for women in the workplace, according to a new survey.

Jobs website Monster.co.uk asked: “What do you think is the biggest obstacle for women in pursuing a successful career?”

The 1,792 respondents from the UK highlighted the main obstacles:

  Pregnancy and children 48% (851 votes)

  Difficulty in being accepted as equals by men 21% (378 votes)


• 
  
  Nothing, women have the same opportunities as men 20% (367 votes)


• 
  
  The salary gap compared to men 8% (143 votes)
