Pan-European
online travel service Opodo
today announced the appointment of Garry Thompson as HR director.
Thompson,
formerly head of HR at travel technology company Amadeus Services, will sit on
the executive team of Opodo,
which is owned by nine leading airlines, including British Airways and Aer Lingus.
He
will be responsible for working with the current HR team, developing the
existing HR and organisation development strategy to enable it to fully support
Opodo’s business direction
and future growth plans.
Bart
Tompkins, acting chief executive of Opodo,
said: "Thompson will be a great asset to Opodo, and his past travel experience was a key
factor in his appointment. He will provide knowledge and direction to our HR
team as Opodo’s plans for
growth are implemented."
At
Amadeus, which also has an interest in Opodo,
Thompson played a major role in the formation of the new company, seeing it
develop from its start-up phase through to it becoming a fully established
organisation of 360 people.

Previously,
Thompson worked for 11 years at travel services firm Galileo where he was
responsible for all aspects of HR from strategy development to employee
relations.
