Members
of the far-right British National Party (BNP) may be barred from being employed
as civil servants.
According
to the Guardian, Home Office
officials are considering the move. But home secretary David Blunkett and his ministerial
colleagues are said to be "fairly sceptical" about such a ban, due to
the implications for civil liberties.

Under
the plans being considered, civil servants and applicants to the service would
have to disclose their membership of the BNP. Members would be refused employment,
or asked to leave the service.
