Workers’
rights, holidays and pensions look set to be boosted after a weekend of talks
between leaders of the biggest trade unions and government ministers at
Labour’s national policy forum.
The Labour party
has promised to make changes to prevent employers counting bank holidays as
part of the statutory four weeks’ holiday entitlement.
The party has
also pledged action to:
● protect
the pensions of people moving jobs
● help
secure manufacturing jobs
● include
pensions in collective bargaining arrangements
● increase
redundancy pay.
The government
has also promised to remove its opposition to an EU directive aimed at giving
