The
gender pay gap is set long before women even reach the workplace, according to
a new study.
A
survey of youngsters by financial services group Goldfish, has found that girls
receive less pocket money than boys.

On
average, girls get £3.74 a week, while boys get £3.81, most of which is then
spent on sweets, comics and magazines.
However, the days of male dominance may soon be over as
girls are twice as likely to buy books with their pocket money, which may be
related to the reason why boys are poorer academic performers.
