Govt launches £500,000 trading standards training plan

The
Government has launched a £500,000 online training programme to help trading
standards enforcers crack down on rogue traders and unfair practices.

The
Trading Standards Desk Companion will streamline current learning and provide
up-to-date information for professionals working in the sector.

The
scheme has been funded by the DTI and comprises a website and supporting CD-Rom
which contains case studies, real life scenarios, legislation guidance and
information on professional practice.

Initially,
the online training will be piloted by several local authorities, before being
rolled out nationally by the end of the year.
