The
Learning and Skills Council is set to invest a further £9m to improve the
provision of basic skills teaching in the UK.
The
money will be used to improve the quality of skills trainers as well as the
leadership and management of basic skills.
It
also named the two preferred suppliers for its Skills for Life Quality
initiative as the Centre for British Teachers and the Basic Skills Agency.
Avril
Willis, director of quality and standards at the LSC said the appointment of
these new suppliers would deliver "real improvements" to a crucial
area of learning.
