Members
of the Royal College of Nursing have voted overwhelmingly to accept the
Government’s ‘Agenda for Change’ career and pay modernisation proposals.
More
than 100,000 RCN members turned out for the ballot, in which 97,884 (84 per
cent) voted to accept the Government’s plans.
The
RCN had recommended its members accept the Agenda for Change and provided
detailed advice on its implications.
Jill
Jarvis, RCN chair of council, said the issue had been one of the biggest in the
organisation’s history, eliciting a huge strength of feeling among members.
