Drinks workers toast 10 per cent pay rise

by Personnel Today 5 Mar 2003

Workers
at Diageo, the world’s largest drinks company, have been given a 10 per cent
pay increase.

An
agreement between the company and trade union GMB Scotland will see the rise
phased in over three years and also includes a ‘no compulsory redundancies’
clause, securing thousands of Scottish jobs until 2006.

Robert
Parker, regional secretary of GMB Scotland said: "Our members at Diageo
are absolutely delighted with this deal, which is groundbreaking in the
Scottish drinks industry. It takes them right to the top of the heap."
