Many
London schools and libraries could be forced to close this week as workers
strike over pay.
Caretakers
and other support staff at 70 London schools are set to walk out for a week as
part of a union campaign for the London Weighting allowance to be raised to
£4,000.
Seventeen
London boroughs will be hit by the strike.

Unison
said the current local government allowances of £1,400 in outer London and
£2,600 in inner London were an ‘insult’ to workers.
