Council staff to strike over budget cuts

Southampton
council workers have voted overwhelmingly for strike action.

Unison
members at the council voted to reject council budget proposals by 467 to six
against.

The
action will see a one-day all-out strike on 19 February, and selective
industrial action from 17 February.

dispute started after Southampton City Council announced plans to cut jobs and
staff allowances as part of its budget proposals.
