Demand
for staff has weakened, according to research on the latest job trends.
The
monthly Recruitment & Employment Confederation and Deloitte & Touche
Report on Jobs shows that although the rate of permanent staff placements
increased for the 10th consecutive month in December, the rate of growth was
modest and less marked than that seen in the previous two months.
And
despite the increase in staff placements, further redundancies in both the
manufacturing and service sectors caused the CIPS Employment Index (which
measures actual staffing levels via surveys of employers) to register a net
decline in private sector employment for the 19th consecutive month in
December.
