The
Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published new guidelines to help
employers provide a safe and healthy experience for pregnant women at work.
The
new advice explains how organisations should carry out risk assessments to
identify any potential hazards to pregnant staff.
The
guide, New and expectant mothers at work, also gives detailed advice on
possible physical, chemical and biological risks in the workplace.
It
advises employers that new or expectant mothers should avoid:
–
lifting heavy loads
–
working in confined spaces
–
working at unsuitable workstations
–
working in stressful or violent environments
–
working with lead
