Delegates attending the CIPD’s annual conference were a hairsbreadth away
from being greeted by Mickey and Minnie.
The CIPD council debated alternative venues last week to enable it to be
held in November to avoid a clash with half-term. One of the locations
considered was Euro Disney.
Over the years the CIPD has faced criticism that it is inappropriate for an
HR body to hold its main annual event when it is difficult for parents to
attend.

But the CIPD would have to abandon its traditional Harrogate location if the
event was held in November, and there were safety concerns about women
delegates leaving late seminars after dark.
Bournemouth and Euro Disney were considered, but it was argued that
associating the CIPD with a mouse was inappropriate, or even taking the mickey.
