Acas has appointed
its first full-time chief executive.
John Taylor was the
chief executive of the Training and Skills Enterprise Council for South East
Wales, and a former Acas employee in the 1970s.
“Acas is a highly
valued and successful organisation which has played a full part in the
transformation of employment relations in this county,” said Taylor.
“But now we must
make sure that we are fully geared up to meet the challenges of the new economy
which may differ from those dealing with the fallout from industrial
restructuring.”
The appointment
comes shortly after an internal survey which showed that staff are answering
over 750,000 employment related calls a year, and clients are pleased with its
service.
