Vauxhall has revealed details of its redundancy package following its decision last week to cease production at its Luton car plant.
More than 5,000 Vauxhall employees will be offered a redundancy package. Those under the age of 50 will be offered 25 months’ salary or 19 months’ salary and a car. Staff of retirement age will be offered a lump sum.
Another alternative for employees will be to transfer to the Vauxhall plant at Ellesmere port, Cheshire or a General Motors van factory in Luton.
Staff will consider the redundancy packages during a four-week period of shutting down the plant.
The Government has also pledged to provide job advice and retraining to those affected.
